chocolate dipped pretzels

Can you believe that we're already saying good-bye to September and hello to October? Time seems to move faster in the fall. I thought it'd be fun to usher in the month with some chocolate dipped pretzels.

The Chatty Student (his mom often yells from the other room, "... Stop telling your teacher about the day and start playing!") brings sprinkled, chocolate-covered pretzels every Christmas. They've become his handmade tradition that I always look forward to receiving, hiding (who says I need to share?) and sneak-eating.

peanut butter chocolate chip pretzel cookie

The snow keeps falling, and that makes me hungry for a stick-to-your-ribs kind of food cookie.

What comes to mind is chunky and chockablock-full-of-good-stuff.  I had a yummy peanut butter/pretzel/chocolate chunk cookie this past summer at the Hester Street Fair.  The cookie was super crunchy and delicious, but the pretzel was quite hard.  Today's recipe produces a semi-soft cookie filled with chocolate and balanced out with a crisp, salty crunch from the pretzels.

my new favorite compost cookie...

Introducing: The RoloRoldGold Cookie

Well, the name might be too much of a mouthful.  The mouthful of textural interest, however, is superb. This cookie is a magnificent combination of the best two textures, crunchy and chewy, or perhaps, should I say, crunchewy?

I blogged about a similar cookie in March, but it was littered with too many mix-ins.
Having just the chocolate-covered caramels and pretzels creates a perfect marriage of
crisp, toothsome, sweet and salty pleasure.
