I always love a good lemon bar, and Sweet Melissa Sunday's recipe of the week is Toasted Almond Lemon Bar. I knew I had to try it out, particularly since I've never had this combination before. Thanks, Rebecca of Indecisive Baker, for choosing it. You can find the recipe on her blog.
The baking adventure started with frozen eggs. I knew my refrigerator had microclimates, but I didn't realize one was arctic.
Although I am not crazy about the almond/lemon combo, that didn't stop me from eating three of them. If you'd like to read the other bakers' adventures, hop on over here to check out the goodies.
Your bars look delicious! You are lucky to have a sous-chef to help you!
ReplyDeleteyours look great! i love that lemon/lime juicer - i have the same one. i'm sure it was no fun for you, but the picture of the frozen egg is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny- our fridge was off too- we had to dig in the front for unfrozen eggs! I liked these bars! Thanks for baking with me!
ReplyDeleteHow funny is the frozen egg, not sure I've ever seen one before. I loved the almond with lemon, they were a hit at my house.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo of the bars...they look totally delicious. Loved the story of the frozen eggs...my fridge can be like that on the top shelf too.
ReplyDeleteAs for the frozen eggs, that happens to me once in a while, but now I try to get enough eggs to last me and my roommate only a week or so.
ReplyDeleteOh no, frozen eggs! I don't think I've ever seen one - that's kind of cool. I thought the crust on the bars was really finicky, but once they were baked, the bars were a huge hit here. Definitely a repeat for me!
ReplyDeleteLove your frozen egg. The back of my fridge tends to get very cold and sometimes, the stuff freezes. Fortunately, I keep the eggs up front.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lemon bars.
Whoa! Who knew an egg could do that?
ReplyDeleteYour lemon bars look great. I too was not crazy about the combo of lemon and almond. Going to stick with my tried and true lemon bar recipe. ;)
I also wasn't sure about the almonds in the crust. Regardless, your bars look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that picture of your egg. I never would have thought that would be how frozen eggs look =)
Rebecca, love the photos...I want to reach out and enjoy one of those bars!

Your bars look great! I have never seen a frozen egg before, thanks for sharing the photo. I sometimes have to sample a recipe a few times before I can decide if I like it or not, so I totally understand how you would eat three.
ReplyDeleteI made your selection this weekend too; I served it at a family gathering and everyone liked it!
Is it wrong that I want to bite that frozen egg? Hmmm!
ReplyDeleteYour bars look delicious!
