happy 100th birthday, oreos!
Funny what one learns in church. You either could be nodding your head in agreement or shuddering with some negative memories (for the latter, I genuinely hope not, but I know it does happen.)
The following tidbit, however, will be appreciated by all. The lead pastor mentioned on Sunday that today, Tuesday, March 6, is OREO's 100th birthday. And that they were first sold in my lovely home state, New Jersey! You knew we had to be good for something, right? ;)

thanksgiving oreo turkeys
Aren't these the most adorable Thanksgiving treats? Don't they bring a smile when you see it? Turkey on the right is checking out turkey on the left's cold feet. (We ran out of yellow...)
They make a wonderful addition to the Thanksgiving place setting, or as The Daughter plans, a goodie to hand out to her team's last practice. This is our first year to try it them, and I'm pretty sure they're going to become a tradition.

oreo truffles
More 4th Grade Party Food — tiny bites, festive, delicious, and simple to make (up until the dipping part, that is...)
Naming the treat, however, was a bit hit-or-miss. I had seen the recipe on a website and was going to call them Oreo Cookie Balls, but when The Son heard the title, he snickered and said, "Um, Mom, that sounds a little weird..."
So now they are the exalted Oreo Truffles. Quite fancy schmancy. And scrumptious, as any truffle should be.

cookies and cream cheesecakes
I have a guest blogger today, who baked a yummy dessert. Enjoy!
Hi. According to my mother's blog, I'm The Daughter. As my mother is not feeling well, I decided to step up as an amateur baker and blog for her today.
This morning, I hunted around the mess of cook books we have and pulled out a rather new addition (compared to the other ones...ANCIENT!!!) - Martha Stewart's Cupcakes. After skimming the book, I located an ideal recipe, one that is not that hard, but delicious enough for this state-of-the-art blog— Cookies and Cream Cheesecakes. The final product was beautiful and positively scrumptious.

These little bites of perfection are incredibly creamy with a perfect, fluffy texture.
