orange creamsicle smoothie

The Daughter is guest blogging today.

Hello, The Daughter reporting for duty. On this fine day, I've teamed up with The (Annoying) Brother and come together to create this exquisite gem— a creamsicle smoothie. I must say, I never would have made this thing if it weren't for that little bug, who happened to take all these wonderful pictures. Anyway, after scanning through April 2011 issue of Food Network Magazine, I stumbled upon this refreshing, delicious treat.

Perfect for a hot day, this smoothie has a perfect balance of creaminess and citrus tanginess. Plus, it's better than a margarita! (not saying we've had one)

Creamsicle Smoothie
from Food Network Magazine

¾ cup frozen orange or orange-tangerine concentrate
½ cup cold water
1 cup ice
1 cup vanilla ice cream

In a blender, combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth.

  1. Sounds yummy and refreshing. Perfect following a rigorous soccer game. Makes me nostalgic about the Orange Julius's they only serve now at Papaya King in NYC - with bargain hot dogs. Ask the Dad; he would know about that.

  2. The Dad says that the OJ is alive and well. He's just not letting me in on the secret.

  3. Kids, I'm proud of you for being self-sufficient and giving mom the day off. I'm also proud of you for the team effort. And for reading Food Network magazine. I think this would definitely be a big hit at our house!
